About the process...
SOM Brick Color & Texture Restoration
is in business to help homeowners and home builders restore brick and masonry to match surrounding color and texture, and to offer design improvements to existing structures. Our process has been used in Europe for over 60 years and here in the U.S. for over 30 years. When applied by skilled technicians, this process can often produce an exact match to an existing brick both in color and age.
Stains generally comprise a combination of pigments that are mixed on site, tested on the new brick and modified until the technician finds the perfect match. After the color and texture is meticulously matched, a fixing agent is applied which penetrates the pores of the brick and/or mortar to become part of the material. It is extremely important that the formulation does not seal the masonry because the structure must be allowed to breathe in exactly the same manner as untreated surfaces.

Potential applications...
There are several applications in which the staining process can significantly help the final appearance of a project and provide an economical alternative to re-brick.

    Repaired Walls
  • Masonry repairs can leave walls looking mismatched when the bricks used do not match existing bricks.
    Smoke Damage
  • Smoke can cause serious problems in the color of masonry. In one such case a wall had been washed multiple times and yet it was not enough to fix the problem.
    Dye Lots
  • Dye lot differences may occur when two different runs, or batches of brick are installed on a building.
    Decorative
  • When new brick is installed, decorative quions or window treatments can be added by staining to improve the cosmetic appearance of the structure.
    Our Formulation
